Welcome to
Grace Community Outreach

Our primary goal is to reach the children of Ghana with the Gospel of Jesus Christ so they can:

  • walk in the power of Jesus Christ
  • achieve their full potential and carry His Light to their families, peers, schools, communities, and country, and
  • impact the world for the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

We achieve that goal through practical teachings, activities relevant to the lives of the children, and working to meet their physical needs.

15 Years!

2013 marked 15 years of GCO ministering in Ghana! We praise God for His calling and His faithfulness. We saw unprecedented growth with the addition of seven new VBSs this year. More than 200 local volunteers, mostly youth, came alongside us to minister to over 11,000 children in 53 villages. We heard amazing testamonies of God's Grace and Power at work in each village.

Library Books

June 2013, twenty-four volunteers helped us spend an entire day loading 802 boxes of books and one Chevy Express Van into a shipping container to go to Ghana. We received a grant from a U.S. company for the shipping charges and a large portion of the port and customs fees were paid by Lower Pra Bank in Ghana.

January 2, 2014, the board chairman of the Lower Pra Bank formally presented to books to the District Chief Executive of the Shama District. The books can now be distributed to the villages, increasing the collections for existing libraries and opening several new libraries in villages where GCO has established ministries.

van

Van

A large percent of our budget each summer is spent on transportation. Shama, our base, is a four-hour drive from the airport and once in Shama, we travel daily to the surrounding villages. Additionally, we must transport the soccer teams to the tournament.

For several years now, we have been discussing purchasing a van to help us better utilize the funds we have. Thanks to generous donations from our friends and supporters both in the United States andd in Ghana, we were able to purchase a seven passenger van. It was included with a shipment in June 2013 and released from customs into our possession February 2014. We look forward to greater freedom and flexibility as we travel in our own vehicle.

VBS class

VBS

Grace Community Outreach began in 1998 with Vacation Bible School in two villages. We have grown each year and, in 2012 ministered to over 9,000 children in 37 villages.

Each year, the theme of VBS focuses on Biblical teachings that the students and teachers can apply to their lives. Children memorize scripture verses, and learn about Bible heroes who are not so different from us.
